Jenn and myself had the pleasure of interviewing Diane Merritt, the voice actor for the English version of Trapster. We were curious how one gets into voice acting, her day-to-day activities, and the different type of projects she does. Check out our interview:

We asked Diane several questions about her work and how she got started. Here are a few highlights.
Trapster: What are typical projects that come in?
Diane: Radio and TV commercials, phone prompts, website tutorials, podcast, and all sorts of stuff like that.
Trapster: What’s the best part about doing voice over work?
Diane: I’m my own boss, I get to work from home, I get to make my own hours, and the money is a lot better than radio. Plus, I have a lot of great clients that I work with and it’s fun to get to work around the world from my home. For example, I get to work from Thailand from my home tomorrow night. I was just talking to my friend in Singapore and I’m looking at another project to come through in Denmark. So I have a lot of projects brewing all over the world, which is a lot of fun.
Trapster: So on the flip side, what do you like least about doing voice over work?
Diane: Gosh, that’s a tough question. There’s really nothing I don’t like about my job. I just absolutely love what I do. It’s one of the greatest job in the world, it really is.
Diane Merritt is a broadcast veteran having started her radio career at 16 in her hometown of Buffalo, NY, she now resides in Greenville, SC with her Husband and 3 children and works from her home recording studio. For over 30 years Diane has voiced numerous corporate narrations, IVR Phone Prompts, radio and television commercials. Her list of clients include: Trapster, AT&T – Team USA Soundtrack for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Virgin Charter, Johnson & Johnson, Mazda, Marriott, Phillips Norelco/Sonicare, Wyndham and more.
