The wait is over! Today iTunes posted Trapster’s 3.0.1 update. We’re bouncing with excitement here at Trapster because of all the new features you’re sure to love. The update not only includes Push Notification, but also added was an easier rating systems and a page that shows the recently reported traps in your area.
We gave you a heads up about some of these features in our earlier blog post “Trapster for iPhone 3.0: Experience the Difference.” But now that they are fully implemented we couldn’t help tell you about them again.
Push Notification
Push Notification is probably our most exciting feature yet. As everyone knows, the iPhone can only run one application at a time. It’s biggest downfall to date. So what is Push Notification?
Push Notification was added to the iPhone 3.0 OS. It allows an application to listen for messages being ‘pushed’ to it from the server. So even though your not running Trapster, you can still be alerted via Push Notification of speed traps, red light cameras, live police, etc. It’s similar to the mail application that comes with the iPhone that alerts you that new mail is in your inbox even when you’re busy playing a game.
We already do something similar in Trapster 2.0 using text messages, but the APNS implementation is cleaner and conserves users’ text message bill if they are subscribed to alerts in large areas.
In case you can’t view the recently reported trap right away, Trapster leaves a small reminder for you on the app.
Rate Me
Now when driving along a sleek little box we like to call “Detailed Trap View”, slides out from the side as you approach traps. The box has a green thumb pointing up (for YES) and a red thumb pointing down (for NO) for easier and faster voting. We rely on our users to keep Trapster as accurate and up-to-date as possible, so we’ve made it even easier for you to vote on traps.
Not to mention, the zoomed in view allows you to see exactly where on the map the trap is located. Pretty nifty!

Recent Traps
When starting Trapster you might notice a little red tab with a number at the top of your screen. When you click on this tab a page will open showing the recently reported traps in your area.
What Do You Think?
Trapster has over 400,000 traps in our world-wide database, adding hundreds more each day. With 60 percent of our customers using the iPhone, we knew how important it was to build a better application using the OS 3.0 capabilities. So share your thoughts about the new features and functionality.
