Ahh the open road. It’s fun to get in your car and cruise. But it’s never fun to get a ticket. You might not even noticed you were speeding, or that you happen to drift over the little road reflectors that designate your lane, I like calling this “reading braille”. But there are forces out patrolling the streets looking for these mistakes. LEOs (law enforcement officers) can be sneaky, they won’t admit what they are doing is sneaky, but setting up under a bridge or beyond a curved section of road definitely feels sneaky to the unsuspecting citizen.

Every once in awhile you see that nice driver flashing their lights as you pass by, giving the old school signal of police trap up ahead. And lets not forget about the trucker tactic of using a trusty CB radio, a southern accent, and a large antenna to chat with your fellow road warriors about oncoming road hazards. From the latest hot “radar detector” on the market to a mobile phone application like Trapster, there are many of ways to aid your awareness to the lurking threat of costly traffic tickets. But cops are aware of all the gadgets and gizmos available. They even have their own devices that counter yours, making that costly purchase of yours obsolete. 

Some drivers use multiple devices all at the same time, especially fanatical cop dodgers. So of course they are big fans of Trapster, who isn’t? And their tactics have been recorded and shared with us through our twitter / facebook pages or on this public forum, and we love checking them out.

Here is 8freerunner8’s real world example using a few different counter measures with trapster.

Trapster alerted to a “where police like to hide”, had I not known the area, and known that if LEOs were present, they’d be shooting laser, I would’ve slowed down. Sure enough 2 county cops were right where Trapster said they’d be, and they were shooting their Ultralytes. I have my trapster alerts set to go off 1 mile out, and then it also alerted as I passed the trap, plenty of warning.
