Trapster.com Homepage Redesigned

Google Buzz

Frequent visitors to Trapster.com might notice a bit of a change. Trapster’s homepage had a much needed face lift. And a little work was done on the “Get Trapster Page” of our site.

So, what do you think? We would love some feedback on exactly what you like and what you don’t like.

  • What do you think about the color scheme?
  • Do you like the overall look and feel of the homepage?
  • Do you like the flash animation? The map animation? etc.

Feel free to comment below, or on our facebook or twitter page.

The color scheme is in line with your brand. Unfortunately that is the only praise I can give the new website. There is WAY too much going on on the main page. It feels like every last bit of it is fighting for my attention. The eye doesn't know where to focus. There is a phrase in the design world “if everything is bold, nothing is bold”, I feel it is very fitting for this.

It seems like everything and the kitchen sink is stuffed into the page that first greets you. The rotating banner at the top is very frumpy, the phone carousel looks like a cheap flash app that was purchased and dropped in, the trap map on the homepage is clunky and unnecessary for the home page, and there are noticeable compression artifacts on the graphics near the bottom showing how many users there are.

Being a Trapster user I have no need to learn about the product or download it. I'd be surprised if any new Trapster user let alone a person not versed on computer or cell phone could or would want to machete they're way through the rabid jungle that is your new website to find out information or download the program. These days LESS IS MORE, but apparently your web designer missed that memo.

how hard is it to take vector logos without a background rather than use the ones with white or whatever else….lame lame lame…whoever designed this is NOT a designer

  • i'm serious!

How is it that you can design a nice UI for a phone app, and have such a train wreck for a website?

  • daveseward

I could make you a far better design for you guys than this… for dirt cheap. That's about all I can say.

    Regards,

I wish it were easier for people viewing the map, where my trail is, to ZOOM in and out. when you click the + or -, the map moves over and you have to reposition it. Google Earth is nice and that's how it ought to be, just zoom in real smooth, etc.

It's awful. Firstly, not everyone browses in full-screen mode on a large display, (You'd think people writing mobile apps would know that more than anyone!!) but your HTML forces wide pages and unnecessary scrolling.

The Flash is useless, but that's okay, as I block Flash anyhow.

Then the map which comes up guesses where the user is, gets it totally wrong (my ISP is based in a different state to me, so I get a map 700 km away!), and doesn't provide a way to enter an address!
