Last week Trapster released a new version for the iPhone, which includes some added features to keep you safe and alert on the road. New “Moderator Approved” badges will appear on verified traps, and the new “gears” tab on the right of your trapmap will quickly take you to the “Filter Alerts” page. Lets get a quick look at how these new features work.
Moderator Badges
Trapster moderators spend time researching each trap in their area entered by users to make sure they are valid. Now each trap that has been approved by a moderator will have its own Moderator Badge, which pops up and quickly flash the badge as you approach the trap or hazard.
Filter Alerts
Tapping the new “gears” tab in the bottom right of the trapmap is a quick way for you to set your filter alerts within Trapster.
Filter alerts allow you to customize which trap types and confidence levels you see on the trapmap. Simply tap the gears icon, then select which trap types you would like to be alerted of.
Confidence Levels
You can tap the “confidence levels” button to customize what level trap you want to be alerted of.
- Low confidence – Traps with a green icon indicate that the particular trap has been reported, but it has not been verified. The green color indicates a low confidence level because it has yet to be voted on, or confirmed, by users.
- Medium confidence – Traps with a yellow icon indicate that the trap in question has been been verified by another user. Once another user takes an action to vote their approval on a green trap, the trap icon will change from green to yellow. When you see yellow traps in Trapster, you can have a little more confidence that these are accurate trap locations.
- High confidence – This is the highest level of confidence because more users have voted to approve this particular trap. Traps with a red icon indicate the majority of Trapster users agree that this is a legitimate trap.
- Validated – A new level of confidence. These traps have been researched and approved by Trapster moderators, so you know that they are valid.
- Law enforcement – Another new confidence level. Entered directly from the police themselves! This gives you 100% certainty that these traps are valid.
