Trapster Moderator Spotlight: Zergdog & Mike2kt

Google Buzz

Welcome to the first of what I hope many, moderator spotlights. Each month I will highlight four or five of our Trapster moderators. In their own words you will learn a little about our army of volunteers and why they LOVE Trapster so much that they spend hours upon hours of their free time graciously helping us. They have been given an array of questions to get their juices flowing but have free rein to tell their story. So let’s get started!

Moderator Zergdog

Our first Trapster moderator I’d like to highlight is Zergdog or in real life, John. John is one of our newer moderators having joined the Trapster moderating team on July 2nd of this year.

1. Why did you became a moderator?
I became a moderator to help spread the word about Trapster to the masses. Plus, I love Trapster and becoming a moderator lets me help the community.

2. How do you help Trapster?
I help by reviewing traps in my area to see if their accurate and up-to-date with today’s police enforcement, and other safety and road hazards. My area has been undergoing a lot of construction and some streets have even been closed off. I’ve received several messages from the local Trapster community thanking me for the information that is on Trapster. The feedback has been awesome to say the least!

3. What has been your favorite moderating experience?
My favorite moderating experience is watching the live police get reported in the water. I don’t think those cop cars can drive in water last I checked. :)

4. What devices do you use Trapster on?
I use Trapster with my iPhone and it is always on when I’m driving around town. Its cool when I see the other Trapster users drive past me.

5. Do you have any great Trapster stories you can share with our users?
This one time I was heading back from the river and I was explaining how Trapster works to my friends and just at that moment a Known Enforcement Point notification went off and a cop was just over the hill. That was probably the best way of showing Trapster and I was laughing that it happened as I was explaining it. My friends downloaded Trapster that second.

6. Tell us about you!
I’m a student at the University of West Florida majoring in Computer Science. It would be really awesome to get a Job at Trapster but I am sure they are fine by themselves. LOL I am still undecided about what I’m going to do after I finish school. Either work as a civilian, GI worker or join the military.

7. Do you have any tips for our Trapster users?
Tip: Users please double-check where the trap is being placed this will help keep Trapster accurate and to keep your report from getting deleted.

Moderator Mike2kt

Next we have Mike2kt. Bet it’s not to hard to figure out his name? Mike lives in Texas and was actually referred to me by Zergdog for his excellent work as a Trapster user. And I couldn’t agree more. Mike2kt and Zergdog work together helping clean up the Trapmap and researching enforcement points. Even though they’ve never met in person their contact through Trapster has made them fast friends.

1. Why did you became a moderator?
I became a moderator because I wanted to help keep the Trapmap accurate for the Trapster community.

2. How do you help Trapster?
Some of the duties as a moderator include cleaning up traps that are misplaced, marking areas such as school zones, and keeping an eye on the major cities in Texas.

3. What has been your favorite moderating experience?
Teaming up with other moderators to clear the backlog of unconfirmed traps, double-time.

4. How do you use Trapster?
As a live aid during my 90 mile (one-way) commute. I also rely on the information provided by local Trapster users when I’m in unfamiliar areas.

5. Do you have a fun fact or great tip you can share with us?
The phrase “Don’t Mess With Texas” is a registered trademark of Texas DOT. It was originally used in a 1985-1986 anti-littering campaign. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don’t_Mess_with_Texas

6. Tell us about you!
I love to work on my cars and DRIVE.
