Trapster Goes Green: EV Charging Station Added

Trapster has gone green! We’re excited to announce our newest POI, EV Charging Station. This will mark electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructures that delivers electric fuel to EV’s around the globe. In an effort to help our green driving friends get from point A to point B in their electric vehicles, Trapster users can now locate and mark charging stations.

What is an EV charger?

An electric vehicle charger is responsible for recharging the battery banks in an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle. One needs more than 1 EV charger per vehicle as the driving distance between charges is limited and one would need to charge their electric vehicle before getting back home. We are removing the Checkpoint Trap from Trapster

There have been some recent news stories claiming that Trapster and similar applications will be removed from app stores over the concern of drivers using these apps to avoid DUI Checkpoints. We want to make sure Trapster stays available to you, so we have decided to remove the Checkpoint trap type from Trapster. Our goal is to enable you to have access to the data you rely on. Removing Checkpoints will allow us to now quickly meet the requirements of the app stores that have raised this issue.

We have been in discussions with you users and felt it was appropriate to get your input before making the final decision. Most of you thought that removing the checkpoint trap type would eliminate all of the debate over the purpose of our app.

We believe the inclusion of DUI checkpoints is a positive deterrent, a point of view which has been shared by law enforcement as well. We continue to believe that is the case, but place a greater importance on our ability to continue to offer the application and its entire range of benefits to our large community of users.

We believe it is important to provide a consistent consumer experience regardless of platform, so we plan on removing Checkpoints from all platforms that we are available on.

We are here if you have any questions or comments, please reach out to us through facebook or twitter, and if you need any customer support please visit our support forum.
