Speeding Ticket Tales & Resources
Posted by Sean in How-to, News, Press, Trapster Life on August 18th, 2009
We’ve all either been a lucky recipient of a speeding ticket, or heard the stories of unfortunate motorist receiving a costly reminder to obey the posted speed limit. Working for Trapster I get to to hear stories about this everyday, and thought it would be good to supply some interesting speeding ticket tales paired with some useful resources for our Trapster users.
Some Fun Facts
That’s a first:

Throughout most of the twentieth century, the city of Detroit, Michigan, was synonymous with American automobile manufacturing. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, that was not the case. Instead, Ohio innovators Read the rest of this entry »
Trapster at the Where 2.0 Conference
Pete and Jay are heading to San Jose tomorrow afternoon for the Where 2.0 conference. For those who are not familiar with the conference here is a small blurb, compliments of Where 2.0′s website.
Now in its fifth year, the Where 2.0 Conference is where the grassroots and leading edge developers building location aware technology intersect with the businesses and entrepreneurs seeking out location apps, platforms, and hardware to gain a competitive edge. In the O’Reilly conference tradition, Where 2.0 presents leading trends rather than chasing them.
At Where 2.0, you’ll find source mapping tools, reality mining, open standards for data and location web services, and sensors for obtaining location data. We’ll learn how the established geo industry is reacting to the first businesses making money from their grassroots geospatial projects. There’s no better place to meet the people behind the mash-ups, the people behind the platforms, and the people looking ahead to the future of geospatial. Join us at Where 2.0 to debate and discuss what’s viable now, and what’s lurking just below the radar.

Sounds like it’s right up our ally, right? Hence, sending Pete and Jay to the event to talk with industry leaders about the latest and upcoming trends. I can’t wait to hear all the great stuff they come back with. Jay said he would keep us up to date via Twitter. So be on the lookout for some Where 2.0 tweets.
If you happen to be heading to the event and want a free trapster tee find Pete and /or Jay and say “swag me” (while supplies last).

Click Chick’s iPhone App of the Week
Alison Stewart, or Click Chick, of Midweek features Trapster as her iPhone app recommendation for the week. Here’s what she had to say about why someone in her household felt compelled to check Trapster out:
Within the last year, “an unnamed individual” living in my house (not referring to myself) was pulled over for speeding multiple times. In two of these instances, speeding tickets were actually issued, and the other times, luck prevailed. All violations were very minor (i.e. going 30 mph in a 25 mph zone), and any of us could have been caught. These situations all could have been avoided with better situational awareness, possibly if he had Trapster.
Of course she goes on to describe how great the application is, but we think her story is the most important part of the review. Stewart’s situation probably parallels that of countless others, and we’re flattered that she decided to share it with her readers.
Thanks for checking Trapster out Alison!
