Trapster Reaches 200k Blackberry Users
Posted by Stefanie in BlackBerry, Stats on May 14th, 2009
We had some exceptional news today. Trapster has reached 200k installed Blackberry users worldwide. Woohoo! Verizon topped the list with over 88,000 downloads in the month of April alone. Rounding out the top spots for installs was AT&T with over 19,000 and T-Mobile with around 16,000.
Trapster would like say a special thank you to our awesome Blackberry users. Don’t hesitate to let us know your thoughts and/or suggestions. Also, don’t forget to add us on Facebook and Twitter!
600K Trapster Users Worldwide
As of 8:15am PST today, Trapster hit a pretty big milestone — we’re now 600,000 strong and growing. Here’s a few stats that might be of interest:
- 600,178 total users worldwide
- 458,389 iPhone users worldwide
- 325,776 traps reported worldwide
We’re pretty stoked about these stats and we hope to have some interesting numbers to report on BlackBerry users in the very near future. Since the launch of BlackBerry’s App World, Trapster has garnered a lot of attention from BlackBerry users and we’ve managed to solidify a place in the store’s top 10 free downloads list (we’re currently number 7), and we’ve managed to claim the #1 spot in the Travel category.
More Users, Better Data

So what do these numbers mean for the average Trapster user? Since Trapster is 100% community supported — we rely on you to create and report speed traps — the more people using the application, the better the speed trap alert data we can supply. So, more people equals more traps, and more traps means better awareness and regional coverage.
Thank You
We appreciate every single person who uses Trapster, and we owe a huge thank you to every one of our 600,000 users. Thanks for checking out the application, and if you ever have feedback, questions, or concerns you can leave your comments here, visit our forums, reply to us on Twitter, or email contact [at] trapster [dot] net for support.
Trapster Featured on Crackberry
Posted by admin in BlackBerry, Press on April 10th, 2009
We’ve been pretty impressed with the amount of love that Trapster’s received since the BlackBerry App World was officially launched. Most recently, Crackberry, had this to say about us…
Trapster is an awesome app that will help you avoid traffic tickets by alerting you to speed camera locations and police speed traps. After you load up Trapster, you should see your location on screen. The blue circle is your effective ‘alert radius’. If Trapster detects any traps within the area, the app will begin playing audio alerts such as ‘Live Police’ or ‘Red Light Camera’ so that you’re well aware of the upcoming situation. Users from all around the world report locations of red light cameras and police locations… So the whole alert system is based on user contributions, which is really cool. If you have a tendency to have a heavy foot, this one is an absolute must have.
We’re glad they like the app, and we think the user generated alert system is pretty cool too. Of course we really want you to love the app, so always we welcome your thoughts in the comments.
