Good Vibes From Trapster Users

We hear amazing Trapster stories from our users all the time. From turning Trapster on for the first time and getting accurate trap reports to being saved from a speeding ticket.

Here at the office we can’t help but grin from ear to ear when we hear these stories. It’s exciting to see Trapster, something we work so hard on, being loved and utilized by so many users. It’s so exciting actually, that we wanted to share some of those amazing stories and shout-outs.

Twoted it!

Most of our of great user stories come to us in 140 characters or less, also known as Twitter. The tweets are endless and abundant and we LOVE it! Here are a few of our favorites.

iPhone v2.4 is Here, Auto-Post Traps to Facebook and Twitter!

We don’t want to scare you, but we’ve been watching your behaviors on social sites like Twitter and Facebook. What we noticed is that there are a lot of people using social media and status updates to alert their friends and contacts of speed traps. Tweets like “speed trap on the 40 east, watch out” are pretty common occurrences.

We think it’s great that people are trying to alert their friends via social media, but wouldn’t it be better if there was more context in those tweets? What about exact location? What about a map view? That’s where we knew we could help.

By allowing users to auto-post their traps and trips to Twitter and Facebook, we thought we could make this natural behavior safer, faster, and more effective. Enter the iPhone app version 2.4, now available in the iTunes app store [iTunes link].

Multiple Languages

First off, we added language support for Spanish, French, and German. With over 40 percent of Trapster’s audience being outside the US, we’re excited to now cater to these three language users of the iPhone application. The application will automatically launch with the appropriate fully-translated version, based on the phone’s language settings. Score!

Post Traps and Trips to Facebook

Trapster has the ability to now auto-post new traps and trips to Facebook straight from your iPhone. Wall posts will include trap or trip information, map view, a link to to the actual trap or trip, and it supports comments and likes. To link your Facebook account just follow these simple steps:

1. Run Trapster on your iPhone and select Facebook from the Options menu.

Post Traps and Trips to Twitter

And who can forget to mention our Twitter integration? We can’t! Now you can alert your Twitter friends in real-time via the iPhone app.

Trapster safely integrates with Twitter for real-time sharing without requiring users to hand over their login credentials. Tweets include geocode data and a link to view the trap or trip on a map.

How do you setup Twitter on your iPhone? We’re glad you asked.

1. Open Trapster on your iPhone and select Twitter from the Options menu.

2. Select Sign in with Twitter, you will be automatically directed to the web to safely login to your Twitter account.

4. Tweets appear in your Twitter stream

Trap Tweet

Once logged in, any trap you report or trip you record will automatically be tweeted and include a link to view the exact location on a map!

Let’s say your driving along and you see a live police trap. You’re running Trapster (of course) so you enter the trap into the system. Your trap will automatically be tweeted. How cool is that? In an instant, you have just notified your friends on Twitter of a live police trap.
