How-To Use the “My Trips” Feature on Your iPhone
Heading out on the open road? Going to visit Granny for the weekend in another state? Or just taking off to a friends house 30 minutes away? Whatever the reason or destination, Trapster’s “My Trips” feature for the iPhone application can come in handy for road trips.

Use your iPhone to log your adventure and share it with family and friends on Twitter, Facebook, or even Trapster.com. It’s an awesome feature that lets you stop or pause your trip, insert trip points – “2AM Micky-D’s Run”, and even add crazy pictures along the way to keep everyone in the loop.
Not to mention, it’s a great way to pass the time if you’re a passenger, especially when that same mountain of dirt has been passing you by for the past five hours. If you’ve ever driven through Texas or New Mexico (states we also happen to love) before, you know what I’m talking about!
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use the My Trips feature: Read the rest of this entry »

How-To Customize Trapster’s Display on Your iPhone
Have you ever bought a new cell phone, pulled it out of the box along with the charger, and tossed everything else aside not even thinking of the papers and booklets that are tucked within that shiny neat packaging? I can honestly say I have never once opened a cell phone user guide. My philosophy has always been to just figure it out as I go. It’s more of a subconscious decision I must of made with myself years ago that just stuck.
Therefore, I’m always shocked when I learn something new about my cell or come across a new feature. I will admit, sometimes I feel like an idiot when I make that big “OOOOOOOH” noise as I realize I could of made my life ten times easier or saved myself a gang of time.
Which was the root of the problem to begin with… time. Finding the time to sit down and read a cell phone user guide. Let alone building enough motivation to even think about doing it.
And this brings me to why we think you might like this little ditty. Here is a quick and easy “how-to customize your Trapster map display” guide on your iPhone. Read the rest of this entry »
Trapster Reaches 200k Blackberry Users
Posted by Stefanie in BlackBerry, Stats on May 14th, 2009
We had some exceptional news today. Trapster has reached 200k installed Blackberry users worldwide. Woohoo! Verizon topped the list with over 88,000 downloads in the month of April alone. Rounding out the top spots for installs was AT&T with over 19,000 and T-Mobile with around 16,000.
Trapster would like say a special thank you to our awesome Blackberry users. Don’t hesitate to let us know your thoughts and/or suggestions. Also, don’t forget to add us on Facebook and Twitter!
iPhone v2.4 is Here, Auto-Post Traps to Facebook and Twitter!
We don’t want to scare you, but we’ve been watching your behaviors on social sites like Twitter and Facebook. What we noticed is that there are a lot of people using social media and status updates to alert their friends and contacts of speed traps. Tweets like “speed trap on the 40 east, watch out” are pretty common occurrences.
We think it’s great that people are trying to alert their friends via social media, but wouldn’t it be better if there was more context in those tweets? What about exact location? What about a map view? That’s where we knew we could help.
By allowing users to auto-post their traps and trips to Twitter and Facebook, we thought we could make this natural behavior safer, faster, and more effective. Enter the iPhone app version 2.4, now available in the iTunes app store [iTunes link].
Multiple Languages
First off, we added language support for Spanish, French, and German. With over 40 percent of Trapster’s audience being outside the US, we’re excited to now cater to these three language users of the iPhone application. The application will automatically launch with the appropriate fully-translated version, based on the phone’s language settings. Score!

Post Traps and Trips to Facebook
Trapster has the ability to now auto-post new traps and trips to Facebook straight from your iPhone. Wall posts will include trap or trip information, map view, a link to to the actual trap or trip, and it supports comments and likes. To link your Facebook account just follow these simple steps:
1. Run Trapster on your iPhone and select Facebook from the Options menu.

2. Select Connect with Facebook to setup your account.

3. Set My Traps and/or My Trips to ON.

4. Traps and Trips are posted to your Facebook Wall

Post Traps and Trips to Twitter
And who can forget to mention our Twitter integration? We can’t! Now you can alert your Twitter friends in real-time via the iPhone app.
Trapster safely integrates with Twitter for real-time sharing without requiring users to hand over their login credentials. Tweets include geocode data and a link to view the trap or trip on a map.
How do you setup Twitter on your iPhone? We’re glad you asked.
1. Open Trapster on your iPhone and select Twitter from the Options menu.

2. Select Sign in with Twitter, you will be automatically directed to the web to safely login to your Twitter account.

4. Tweets appear in your Twitter stream

Once logged in, any trap you report or trip you record will automatically be tweeted and include a link to view the exact location on a map!
Let’s say your driving along and you see a live police trap. You’re running Trapster (of course) so you enter the trap into the system. Your trap will automatically be tweeted. How cool is that? In an instant, you have just notified your friends on Twitter of a live police trap.
